The Black Boy (now renamed ‘The Shinfield Arms’)

The first reunion was organised by Jan Dallard to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the camp and headquarters closure.

This page contains links to reunions’ photos from 2008 onwards.

Many reunion attendees drove up on the Saturday morning, stayed at the Holiday Inn, South Reading overnight and left after breakfast on the Sunday morning.

The first and subsequent meet-ups were at The Black Boy (now renamed The Shinfield Arms) pub at 12 o’clock noon for drinks and lunch. Normally, one or more parties strolled up to the old site of the camp, now a housing estate, and walked around. Two focal points are the Parkside Players building (previously the NAAFI Eagle Club) and the rebuild of the old Officer’s Mess, now converted to two separate private houses. The rest of the afternoon was normally spent at the pub and later back at the hotel - the Holiday Inn, South Reading. Dinner was normally at the Holiday Inn, but had been held at the (then) Black Boy for a few reunions.
